Thing #23

Web 2.0 has been an interesting experience. I had the most fun with Flickr & image generators & had great fun using Picture2life. I will definitely be using Zoho Writer in the future & would have never discovered this tool if it weren't for Web 2.0. There were other 'things' that really didn't interest me - I found the RSS feeds & Rollyo were not very exciting.
It's definitely been interesting and I've learnt lots of new things that i probably wouldn't have bothered to look at, but I'm glad i did. I'm still not sure how this will work in a library, but we'll see how we go & what ideas we can come up with.

Thing #22

Oh my gosh, downloadable audio books are a great idea! I had fun looking around the different sites and seeing all the great books that can be downloaded. The best bit is that there are no overdue fines!!! Talking books are becoming very popular & I think being able to download them is a great idea. You never have to leave your home!!

Thing #21

Personally, the Podcasts didn't interest me that much. They were okay, but not something I would search for or use. I don't know if they would be useful in a library situation either. I'm sure there would be people out there in library land who could think up a use for them - unfortunately, that person is just not me.

Thing #20

Having looked through YouTube, I have chosen to add John Stamos being interviewed by Kerri-Ann whilst on his recent trip to Australia. This just cracks me up - he is so odd in this interview. I had heard about this interview, but wasn't home when it was on. I was very excited to see that it was on YouTube. Here it is -

Thing #19

After looking through the WEB 2.0 awards list, I chose to look at 'Picture2life'. I had a lot of fun looking through this site and edited a picture of my dog, Foxie. Here it is -

Thing #18

Zoho Writer is AWESOME!!! I have been recently thinking about purchasing Microsoft Office - but am now re-thinking that. I never realised something like this existed. I never thought I could go onto the internet to type up documents. And it even has an offline mode, so I don't even need to be connected to the internet to use it! I think Zoho Writer is great.

Thing #17

PBwiki was great. It's amazing to see all the different Blogs people have done.

Thing #16

I have found that a Wiki is simply a place to find and share information.
I think this could especially useful for Library staff to share information, post how to manuals & things like that. If you work in a one person branch (lots of country libraries do) I think it's a great idea for those staff to find out things that they may not know about.

Thing #15

Web 2.0 & Library 2.0....Mmmmmm, I really am still unsure what to think about it yet. I can see some benifits of using Library 2.0. It's a great way of reaching out to people through the web. BUT, is it just a phase? How long is it going to be before library staff get sick of blogging?? It requires updating and time (albet, just 15minutes) I don't know, maybe i'm just being very closed minded - rather than see the potential, i'm just seeing the work it could cause. I really think i need to research it more - I am still in two mids about it all.

Thing #13 & #14

Have just been looking at tagging on Del.icio.us and think this is a great idea. Especially if you use multiple PC's!! I think it's a great way of creating accesible bookmarks for you to use & share with friends.

TECHNORATI - I have discovered, is the ultimate place for blog-a-holics to go. It is like a 'Google' for blogs!!

Thing #12

Once I started playing with Rollyo, I realised that I had used sites like this before & didn't like them. I think limiting yourself to just your favorite sites means you don't get to explore other websites that may give you the best information you're after.

Thing #11

This is one of the books I added to my 'LibraryThing' catalogue. As you can see, I can't get myself off the christmas theme - Only 5 weeks & 4 days to go!! This book would be great to have for real in our library collection...I think I'll go put in a request for it now!!

Thing #10

For my thing 10, I've use the online image generator 'ezSmile' to create the following character -

I'm so excited about him - I love Christmas and this little X-mas fella is too!!! Thumbs up to presents!!!!

Use the link below to create your own little fellas -

Thing #8

Well, it has been a bit tricky, but, I've now learned about RSS & newsreaders. Funny thing is, i already subscribe to some & didn't even have a clue that they were called that.
My personal favorite is 'Unshelved'. I find myself, each week, reading the comic strip and nodding my head and laughing, cause everything they draw is so true!! It's great to have that kind of comic relief in the middle of 'one of those days'.
I've also discovered the 'Quotes of the Day'. It's not very useful, but is good & has some real good quotes.
Also 'Aboutdogs.info' blog. It's good to read other blogs where people seem to be just as crazy about their dogs as i am about mine!
I'm still not too sure how useful this could be in a library environment..but I'll think about it some more & may come up with something!!

Thing #7-

Okay, so in this blog thingy, we've been asked to write about something technology related that interests us. NOW, there is a story behind this, so here it goes -

SO, my shire had not sent me my annual Recycling & Green Waste timetable for this recent year. To be honest, i think they did send it but my husband threw it out thinking it was junk mail (I accused him of it and he got very defensive!! - Don't worry, I'm on to him!!) ANYWAY, for the past few months we have just been guessing which bins must go out on certain weeks...this is easily done by spying on the neighbours putting out their bins!! I finally got sick of it, but not wanting to go to the shire, I was able to log on to the Internet and download a copy (why did i not think of that months ago - who knows??) I LOVE TECHNOLOGY. I didn't have to wait in line and be ignored by bored & angry shire staff. My lunch break was saved!!!! YAY!!! Another win for technology. It's very frustrating when it doesn't work for you, but when it does - Wow. Nothing more needs to be said.

Thing #5 & 6 -

Well, today I've spent time on Flikr and have created my very own 'custom name badge', it's very good. BUT, I then went to post it & was given the following message - 'Unable to upload image'

For all those waiting to see my fabulous 'custom name badge' I'm afraid you'll have to keep waiting until this problem has been sorted (I fear it may be user related) In the mean time, i will add some other photo..........

* Here is a picture I found on Flickr. This little fella reminds me of my own puppy (well, he's almost 14 years old - but in my eyes, he's still my puppy) Except, mine is HEAPS fatter, lots more hairy and his eyes boggle more!! But, i think they're so cute!!!

Blog 2 - part B

You know, as a woman, i have the need to use approx. 30,000 words per day (i read it in a study) and this blog is a good way of using a portion of them. At least my husband won't have as much to complain about - there is now 61 less words that i will need to use on him today!!

Blog 2

This blog is very hard to write. I feel self concious knowing that people could be reading this crap i'm writing. I would prefer to just include pictures with a brief description, but, have now been given the task of having to write at least 100 words per blog!! I feel like i'm at school all over again!! At least when you use pen & paper you can just write your words bigger and it looks like you've done lots of work. Wait...I've just thought a something............
now, how many words do i have to type again??? Yes, this may just work out after all.

Hump Day

I'm tired - can I go home!!!!
